The Tri-University Paper Conference is a collaborative tradition of graduate students from University of Miami's Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program, FIU's Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center, and Florida Atlantic University's Caribbean & Latin American Studies Program. This year, the face-to-face conference is cancelled but the paper competition will continue with awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Papers are due on March 27 at 5:00 pm.

South Asia Book Award and South Asia National Outreach Council present Barb Rosenstock and her book The Secret Kingdom: Nek Chand, a Changing India, and a Hidden World of Art. In 1947, Nek Chand began building a Rock Garden in Chandigarh, India, using natural and discarded man-made materials. This webinar will focus on the book, Girl of the Southern Sea by Michelle Kadarusman (Pajama Press). From the time she was a little girl, Nia has dreamed up adventures about the Javanese mythical princess, Dewi Kadita. The Institute looks beyond Cuba’s Cold War conflict with the US and examines a less familiar side of the Cuban story of the 1960s. Scholars and experts on Cuban history, politics, sociology, music, theater, photography, film, and dance provide new insights into the politicization of daily life and expression in 1960s Cuba. The well-regarded Cuban historian, Dr. Rafael Rojas, provides an incisive, comparative, and thoughtful analysis of the 2019 Cuban Constitution.
