MOU Signing Ceremony

On Feb. 4, FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg and Universidad de San Martin de Porres (USMP) President Ing. José Antonio Chang Escobedo signed a Memorandum of Understanding that promises to open doors to cross-faculty projects and multi-disciplinary collaboration.

The signing ceremony, hosted by President Rosenberg at Ronald Reagan House on the Modesto A. Maidique campus, was witnessed by FIU officials: Provost Douglas Wartzok, Dean Ken Furton, SIPA Executive Director John Stack, Advancement Director David Skip, LACC Director Frank Mora, and Professors Manuel Gomez, College of Law, and Bianca Premo, Director of LACC’s Andean Program.

Accompanying President Chang were USMP mission members Raul Bao Garcia, vice-president, USMP; Daniel Valera Loza: dean, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Human Resources: and Pablo Aranibar Osorio: director, School of International Business Management. Also attending were local business leaders Aurelio and Giraldo Leyva, CEM Global, Gustavo Arnavat, US Executive Director,Inter-American Development Bank, and Ambassador Cesar Bustamante Llosa, Consul General of Peru, Miami.

The USMP visit to FIU concluded LACC’s successful Distinguished Scholar Lecture Series which featured Peru’s twice-serving President Alan Garcia who currently serves as the dean of the university’s Government Center.
