Proyecto Lentes/ Lens Project 1st. Gallery Exhibition

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic - March 2016.

The "Proyecto Lentes" (Project Lens), a sub-project of the Syndemics Project funded through the Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center, has begun its Latin American tour, with the initial launch of the participatory photography exhibit scheduled for March 16, 2016, in the barrio of Capotillo in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (more details below). The Projecto Lentes is a Photovoice project that involves a group of seven residents of Capotillo who have struggled with heroin addiction, and who contacted our team in 2014 and expressed their desire to "tell our stories" and "to overcome our invisibility." We are proud that the project is coming to fruition, thanks to the dedication and efforts of the seven artists and social analysts who produced these incredible images and wrote their associated captions.
